George Town and Regional Planning Internships 2023/2025

The Town and Regional Planning Internships 2023-2025 are currently recruiting and inviting recent graduates to apply.

Salary Scale

R 18 000 – R 21 000 per Month

In collaboration with National Treasury, the George Municipality invites applications from motivated, committed unemployed graduates with an accredited qualification (B-Tech, B-Degree or higher) in Town and Regional Planning from the South African Council of Planners (SACPLAN) to undertake an internship program for three (3) years with the objective of obtaining professional registration.

George Town and Regional Planning Internships 2023/2025

In order to improve the quality of built environment professionals in local government, National Treasury has launched a grant program to enhance experiential learning and training.

A successful candidate will be employed as an intern in the Planning and Environment department of George Municipality and will be assigned to any of the sections under Development Management and Spatial Planning and, if necessary, be seconded to other Public Entities or Consultancies during the internship period of three (3) years.

It should be noted that Garden Route District Municipal Area residents will be given preference.

Minimum Requirements

Potential candidates must be unemployed.
Be in possession of a SACPLAN accredited qualification (B-Tech or Degree) in Town and Regional Planning.
Be registered with SACPLAN as a Candidate.
Preferably reside within the Garden Route District Municipal Area.
Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Be able to read, write and speak two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
Be Computer literate (MS Office).
Valid code B driver’s licence
Be prepared to sign a three-year contract with the George Municipality.

Disqualification

Non-submission of required documents or submission of fraudulent documents. Canvassing of Councillors and/or officials.
Non-adherence to the instructions on the advertisement.

There will be a requirement to sign an employment contract and, where applicable, a performance agreement, as well as a disclosure of interests and benefits.
