A special invitation has been extended to the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology of Tshwane University of Technology by Adanian Labs, in collaboration with Adapt IT, to attend Adapt IT Holdings Johannesburg Campus’s work 4.1 summit, Shaping the Future Workforce with Technology, on August 23, 2023.
ICT Students Learn How to Shape the Future Workforce at the Work 4.1 Summit
During the summit, participants had the opportunity to participate in enriching discussions, hear thought-provoking presentations, and network with other participants. There were a variety of distinguished speakers and esteemed professionals present at the event, giving attendees a unique insight into how technology and industry are intertwined.
The event aimed to bring together and see how universities can deliver world-class education as well as technology solutions and capacity development to thrive in the future of work, said John Kamara, Co-founder, Group CEO of Adanian Labs and Chairperson of the AI Centre of Excellence.
We train students for new, emerging types of work, including Data Science. There is a growing demand for people trained in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and related fields – all of which can provide jobs for young South Africans. Additionally, we assist organizations in transforming their data into an intelligent framework to enable their digital transformation,” he said.
Key themes and topics for the summit included; AI Opportunity in Africa: Exploring how AI is revolutionising industries across Africa and uncovering untapped growth opportunities; Data Transformation: Harnessing the power of data to drive innovation and transformation within businesses; Shaping the Workforce with Data:
Analysing the role of data in crafting the workforce of the future; Unveiling Blockchain (Web3.0): Delving into the world of Web3.0 and its potential to revolutionise industries; and Empowering the Future Workforce: Strategies to equip the future workforce with essential technology-driven skills.
I gained a valuable perspective on the field of study by attending the event. “I was able to tap into my future as a result of the expertise shared during the discussions and the insights gained,” said Fundiswa Khanyi, a Computer Science student.
Zhejiang International Business School (ZIBS) contributed greatly to the summit’s success. Having them attend the discussions enhanced the global perspective and provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge across borders.
