Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and punctual records of all guest notifications, dockets, and correspondence.
  • Reservations must be made for guests.
  • Ensure the check-in/check-out procedure is followed strictly.
  • Maintenance Section should be notified of any faults.
  • On check-ins and checks-outs, liaise closely with Housekeeping.
  • Assure that all takings are proper, balanced, and deposited in the bank in accordance with the policy and procedure.
  • Make sure the charges are entered correctly on the guest’s folio.
  • Make sure the cashier’s report for the shift is completed and that the float, cash, and credit takings are balanced.
  • Inquiries regarding conferences will be handled University of the Free State
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as required to ensure that the front desk runs smoothly.
  • An ability to work weekends as well as assigned shifts.
  • Participate in breakfasts and other functions as needed.
  • The Housing and Residence Affairs Management may require you to perform any other duties.

Inherent Job Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma/B.Tech degree/Postgraduate Certificate with an NQF level 7 qualification OR a 3-year National Diploma with an NQF level 6 qualification in Hospitality Management.

Receptionist experience of one (1) year in the hospitality industry.
