Following the suspension of academic activities at its campuses, Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) says it is engaging with student bodies.
NSFAS has implemented the eZaga APP to facilitate student allowance payments, which has resulted in protests by students.
TUT Engages With Student Bodies After Academic Suspension
Several students still have not received their June and July allowances because of the introduction of the digital banking service last month.
Student allowances were also allegedly paid out by NSFAS to unlicensed service providers at excessive rates without the required banking licenses.
There have been no comments from NSFAS.
For students who haven’t received their June and July allowances, students are now demanding that the institution release their funds.
According to university spokesperson, Phaphama Tshisikhawe, management and students are currently meeting to find viable and sustainable solutions and restore normality on campus. All stakeholders are invited to do their utmost to safeguard their academic projects at this critical juncture in the academic year. Likewise, students should be on the lookout for communications regarding the resume of academic activities.”
