TUT External Advert Position: Disability Coordinator Soshanguve Campus

The position has been identified as a promotional position and is intended for permanent and fixed-term contract staff members appointed for at least three years, internal candidates within the Faculty of Higher Education Development and Support (HEDS) who meet the requirements as outlined below.

Applicants are required to submit together with the CVs, a standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified copies of qualifications and Identity Documents. Failure to comply with this instruction will disqualify the candidate. Further, note that candidates may be expected to make a presentation or undergo competency testing.

Key performance areas/Core functions

  • To, liaise with and guide institutional stakeholders responsible for the execution of services affecting students with disabilities, develop awareness on matters pertaining to disabilities and universal access.
  • To monitor and report on the delivery of a range of student support services for SwD.
  • The candidate will have to partner with all relevant stakeholder as is outlined in the Policy on Students with Disabilities of the University.

Minimum Requirements

  • NQF Level 10 qualification

(A relevant Doctoral qualification in the field of Inclusive Education/ Special Needs Education.)

Experience

  • Five (5) years relevant experience as a specialist or in a coordination position for Students with disabilities.

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge on the facilitation of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven knowledge and experience on planning, coordination, research, monitoring and reporting competencies.
  • Expert knowledge of national strategy and funding mechanisms related to Students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge and insight into the broader higher education system
  • Advanced computer literacy (specifically MS Office packages)
  • Project management
  • Team work
  • Advanced communication
  • Facilitation skills
  • Presentation skills
