The Department of Electrical Engineering, in the faculty: of Engineering and the Built Environment seeks to appoint a Lab Technician. This is a permanent position based at eMalahleni Campus.

Critical Performance Areas
- Maintain equipment in the Electronic, Computer and Process instrumentation/Automation Labs
- Maintain and upward development of the laboratories.
- Maintain and upward development of electronic, Computer and Process instrumentation/Automation Labs
- Involvement in practical and project work
- To assist academic staff with practical classes
- To provide general technical support to staff
- General technician administrative duties
- Involvement with procurement of the consumables and the purchasing of capital equipment required in the laboratories.
- Active participation in community service projects
Minimum Requirements
- A National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Electrical Engineering (Light current) or equivalent with proven sound knowledge in Process Instrumentation/Automation
Experience
- Two (2) years relevant experience
- Proven experience in product development and innovation skills will be advantageous.

- TUT Policies and Procedures
- Financial Management skills recommended.
Knowledge of IT
- Excellent workshop practice skills and laboratory management
- Good in Research and Development skills
- Good Laboratory practice
Registration with professional body (if applicable)
- Registration with ECSA or SAIEE
