PBL is an innovative teaching and learning approach that is used in the BPharm learning programme. Due to the fact that PBL is learner-centered, and is aimed at producing pharmacists who are capable of practicing effectively immediately after graduation, it is in line with national policy of Outcomes Based Education (OBE).

Additionally, the TUT Pharmacy Department offers postgraduate degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences, including Advanced Diplomas in Pharmaceutical Sciences (NQF level 7) that are designed to prepare students for careers in pharmaceutical sciences, including clinical research or medicine governance and registration, after obtaining three-year qualifications in health or related sciences. There are a variety of healthcare representatives, CRAs, analysts, pharmaceutical technologists, nurses, dental technologists, and registration assistants who could contribute to this process.

Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (NQF level 8) is an excellent choice for those seeking vertical integration of knowledge in medicines regulatory science and clinical research.

Besides offering an NQF level 9 Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Department offers a PhD level 10 in Science.
