Tut Students Protest Against Historic Debt

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) students are also protesting historic debt.

The students are asking for the registration of all students who owe less than R150 000 and the elimination of the NSFAS residence cap of R45 000.

In response to management’s alleged failure to address student concerns, TUT Student Representative Council says it will not let campus activities proceed until management resolves these concerns.

Keamogetswe Masike, the President of the Student Representative Council, says, “The university is closed due to historic debt that prevented students from registering.”. Although we have attempted to negotiate on behalf of students, the university insists that students still pay 20% upfront.”
