Key performance areas/Core functions:

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate mathematics and didactics related to FET;
• Prepare and present research proposals for funding, including publications and presentations;
• Responsible for supervising postgraduate students (M & D);
• Partner with industry and higher education institutions to form strategic partnerships;
• Lead community engagements and strategic initiatives;

• Provide maximum efficiencies in the research and student outputs by managing the research committee’s human, financial, and infrastructure resources;
• Be a role model for peers in the department and the faculty;

Minimum requirements TUT Vacancy Professor:

Academic qualifications:

• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education from a university or college that is accredited
• In the undergraduate program, Mathematics is a major
• It is highly recommended to have a professional designation

Experience:

• Experience teaching mathematics or mathematics education in teacher education for at least five years. Candidates must also have experience teaching Didactics for the indicated subject areas.
• The HEQSF and related activities should be understood by applicants.
• In order to be eligible for this position, applicants must have experience developing curriculum and/or designing instructional materials.
• The applicant should demonstrate a track record of collaborative and individual publications in accredited academic journals and conference proceedings, community engagement, and supervision of postgraduate students;
• An applicant must have taught at undergraduate and honours levels in teacher education in order to demonstrate experience in the field.
• TUT uses an approved measuring instrument (i.e. scoresheet) for promotions and this position (i.e. Professor) requires compliance with all of these requirements.
• The applicant must also have at least 3 years of experience managing an academic department, including research management.
• Mathematical qualifications are required at the undergraduate level to teach Mathematics
